Élevé offers a specialized one on one training program all whilst creating a safe, nurturing and inspiring environment.

At every level, from ‘Tiny Dancers’ to our ‘Élevé 3 Advanced Dancers’, our dancers are introduced to the new and exciting stages of dance from their very first class; the start of pointe work, competitions, unique performance experiences and the coveted RAD Exams.

We strive to challenge our dancers and every provision is made for them to be the best they can be.

We believe in a diverse training program and offer classes in the Vaganova and the Royal Academy of Dance Ballet methods, Pre Pointe and Pointe work, Contemporary Technique, Ballet/Contemporary Repertoire, Jazz, Dance Conditioning, Progressing Ballet Technique and private coaching for exams, competitions and technique.

This program is for our youngest dancers, aged 3-5, incorporating a diverse blend of classical ballet training together with a love of the arts. In addition to classical ballet, students are introduced to creative movement and focus is on developing their creativity and musicality.

ÉLEVÉ 1 - Junior Division

The Junior Program is for dancers aged 5-10 years old. This program is for the young dancer who shows an absolute love of dance. A comprehensive dance program is offered to this level; which includes ballet classes in the Royal Academy of Dance method and Jazz classes. Once the student reaches the grade 4 level, they are invited to attend further class work in the Vaganova method, Jr Pointe/ Pre Pointe and Conditioning classes. Dancers at the Grade 2 level and higher are encouraged to participate in the local Dance Competitions.

ÉLEVÉ 2 - Intermediate Division

Our Intermediate Program is for dancers aged 10-12 years old. This program is for the dancer who has decided to pursue dance along with their academic studies. A comprehensive dance program is offered to this level; which includes completion of the Jr Royal Academy of Dance Grades Exams and the progression into the Vocational Exams. Contemporary Dance becomes a focused part of their complete dance training along with Jazz. Time and care is spent introducing and strengthening pointe work and classical repertoire along with the increase of Conditioning classes. Dancers are this level are encouraged to compete in the local Dance Competitions and with the potential to compete Internationally.  The Intermediate Division program is by audition only.

ÉLEVÉ 3 - Advanced Division

For the most serious of dancers, who have chosen ballet as their craft. This program is offered to dancers aged 13+ and runs from mid-day onwards- 5 days a week. Students are offered daily ballet classes trained in the Vaganova method, Pointe Technique, Ballet and Contemporary Repertoire, Contemporary technique, Rehearsals, as well as Complete Dancer Conditioning. Alongside the open classes, Vocational RAD ballet classes are introduced from Intermediate Foundation up to and including the Solo Seal.  We also encourage our dancers at this level, that are eligible, to participate in local and international ballet competitions. The Senior Division program is by audition only.

Each month, we aspire to offer a Saturday Master Class Series with teachers at the forefront of their respected craft. One month it may be Ballet and the next Jazz. Dancers from around the Lower Mainland are invited to attend this master class series. Please refer to our Guest faculty to see some of the amazing teachers that have led these master classes.



Élevé  hosts and participates in regular seasonal intensive programs, focused on accelerated learning and growth for participants in various disciplines, taught by renowned  guest and resident teachers who are experts in their field.

Jocelyn Wozencroft (Director) - ARAD, BA(hons), RAD RTS, PBT Cert.

After having the honor of dancing professionally in Europe and Canada; Jocelyn Wozencroft's passion turned to the teaching and mentorship of future dancers.

Jocelyn holds four renowned accreditations: ARAD, BA(hons), RAD RTS, PBT Cert.. She has won numerous teaching awards in ballet and contemporary ballet including 'best teacher' and  'best choreographer' at various provincial and  international ballet and contemporary competitions. As a professional dancer Jocelyn had the honour of working with such choreographers as Wen Wei Wang, Crystal Pite, Shawn Hounsell, Joe Laughlin, Cathy Marston and Antonio Castilla. As a trainee, she completed all of the Royal Academy of Dance Vocational exams with Distinction to the highest level of Advanced 2 and perfomred the Solo Seal. Jocelyn was a finalist at the Adeline Genee Awards in London, England.

Jocelyn had the privilege to train on scholarship at The National Ballet School, Royal Winnipeg Ballet School, Banff Festival of the Arts, Boston Ballet School, and graduated from the Richmond Academy of Dance. Jocelyn has trained extensively in Modern dance, focusing on the Graham, Limon and Cunningham techniques, which adds strength to her contemporary ballet approach.

Jocelyn is a professional mentor, educator and adjudicator and finds passing on the art of dance to younger generations a very rewarding and prestigious opportunity.

Carrie Coulter (Director)  - RAD RTS, PBT Cert.

Carrie has over 25 years of dance training and teaching experience, both locally and internationally.  She specializes in the Graded Syllabi of the Royal Academy of Dance and graduated from the Academy’s 3-year Teaching Program, attaining R.A.D. Registered Teacher Status 2001.

Carrie continually pursues Professional Development courses provided by the R.A.D. and has obtained certification in the Progressing Ballet Technique. She is passionate about giving her students a strong technical foundation and instilling them with a love of this beautiful art.  Carrie trained in the Royal Academy of Dance syllabi under the instruction of the legendary Betty Farrally, co-founder of Canada’s Royal Winnipeg Ballet Company at the Canadian School of Ballet in Vernon, BC, and Deborah Banks, ARAD., director of the Okanagan School of Ballet (formerly the Canadian School of Ballet). Her teacher’s training took place in Hong Kong under the mentorship of Joan Campbell MBE ARAD, retired RAD Examiner and pioneer of the RAD syllabus in Hong Kong.

Her recent teaching career saw her as Head of Junior Division at Avant Dance Co.; a member of the ballet faculty at Caulfield School of Dance and Pro Arte Centre.  Prior to returning to Canada, Carrie spent 4 years teaching in Hong Kong, and had founded a ballet program, providing dance to expat and local children, while living in Lagos, Nigeria.

Amber Barton - Head of Contemporary

Amber Barton received her training with Goh Ballet Academy, Arts Umbrella, The Banff Centre Dance Training and Ballet British Columbia’s Mentor Program. Upon completion of her training, she established herself as a professional dance artist in Vancouver and has danced for various companies and choreographers, including: Joe Laughlin (Joe INK), Gail Lotenberg (LINK dance), Judith Marcuse (Judith Marcuse Projects), Lola MacLaughlin (Lola Dance), Martha Carter (Marta Marta Productions), Jennifer Mascall (Mascall Dance), Day Helesic (MovEnt), Lee su-feh (battery opera), Karen Jamieson (Karen Jamieson) Dance Company), Josh Beamish (MOVE: the company), Dana Gingras (Animals of Distinction), Ruckus Company Productions, Adam Shankman, Mark Godden, Marla Eist, Jennifer Clarke, Emily Molnar, Wen Wei Wang, Cori Caulfield, Lina Fitzner and Heather Laura Gray.  She has also been featured as a guest artist with Company 605.  Over the past couple of years, Amber has performed in Neworld Theatre’s King Arthur’s Night which received a Jessie Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble. 

Amber has been a guest teacher of contemporary dance for Drive Dance Centre’s Scholarship Program, Harbour Dance, iNDUSTRY Dance Training Program, the Training Society of Vancouver (Working Class), Arts Umbrella, Victoria Academy of Dance, The Landing Dance Centre, Polymer Dance, Richmond Academy of Dance, Avant Dance Company, Caulfield School of Dance and Pro Arte.  Amber has been invited to set works for the students of Dancestreams, Modus Operandi, Arts Umbrella, Pro Arte Dance, The Landing Dance Centre, Simon Fraser University’s School of Contemporary Arts, Coastal City Ballet,  Helix Dance Company and Lamondance. 

In 2008, Amber founded her own Vancouver based contemporary dance company, "the response".
